East End Arts, the Riverhead-based nonprofit arts organization, and Good Ground Yoga are partnering on a new conversation series concerning creativity, taking place at the yoga studio in Hampton Bays.
Titled “One Painting – One Artist – And The Creative Mind,” the monthly art talks will be between series creator Jonathan Pearlman, who is a writer and found art sculptor, and a featured artist.
Mr. Pearlman invites guests to consider what happens before paint touches canvas. “Was the painting first a vision, a thought, a color or a vague idea of something waiting to be discovered?” he wrote. “And when paint finally does meet canvas, what then? Art is often an expression of ideas as well as images, and how an artist approaches this challenge can offer a blueprint for navigating the complexities of daily life.”
This month’s artist is Sagaponack’s Roxanne Panero, who will speak Saturday, February 25, at 4 p.m.
Ms. Panero and Mr. Pearlman will examine her painting “Corwith Park.”
She is a graduate of the fine arts department at Barry College in Miami and she worked as a creative director for an advertising and marketing firm in Manhattan for 14 years. She’s been named the Graphic Designer of the Year by the Long Island Arts Council and has furthered her studies at the School of Visual Arts, the Pratt Institute and the Long Island Academy of Fine Art.
Admission is free. Good Ground Yoga is located at 107-5 Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays. Call the studio at 631-594-5050 for more information or visit eastendarts.org.
