The 23rd Box Art Auction benefiting East End Hospice is on Saturday, August 24, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 18 James Lane, East Hampton. Over 80 of the finest artists on Long Island’s East End are going to create art boxes that will be auctioned to benefit East End Hospice. The event will begin with a silent auction and reception with a live auction to follow hosted by Lucas Hunt.

The public is invited to a “Meet the Artist” preview reception at Hoie Hall at St. Luke’s Church, 18 James Lane, in East Hampton on Wednesday, August 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. The boxes can be previewed at Hoie Hall on Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Twenty-four years ago, over 100 artists with connections to East End communities were asked to take a small, unadorned box and create unique works of art that could be put up for bids at an auction to benefit East End Hospice. So successful was that first auction that it has been repeated annually and it is well established as a highlight of the late summer season.

All proceeds benefit East End Hospice, which remains the only independent nonprofit provider of hospice care in the region, serving over 800 patients and their families and caregivers annually.

Admission fee is $100 and includes wine and hors d’oeuvres. For further information or to receive an invitation, call Theresa Murphy at East End Hospice, 631-288-7080 or email tmurphy@eeh.org
