National Theatre Live will broadcast “Mrs. Warren’s Profession,” Bernard Shaw’s classic play, on Friday, November 14, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Five-time Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton (“The Crown”) stars alongside her real-life daughter, Bessie Carter (“Bridgerton”), in their first onstage mother-daughter roles. Vivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time, while her mother, Mrs. Kitty Warren, has built a fortune by navigating the constraints of an old patriarchal world — but at what cost?
Filmed live at London’s Garrick Theatre, this production is directed by Dominic Cooke (“Follies,” “Good”) and delves into the tensions between morality and independence, tradition and progress.
The broadcast screening will take place at Guild Hall, 158 Main Street, East Hampton. Tickets are $18 to $20 at guildhall.org.
