As a bonus production during its 32nd season, the Hampton Theatre Company will present readings of holiday stories by celebrated writers over the weekend of December 9 to 11 in Quogue.
Among the varied stories that Hampton Theater Company veteran actors will read and dramatize are “The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle,” a Sherlock Holmes short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with the backdrop of the Christmas season in London, and “Zlateh the Goat,” a tale by Polish-American author Isaac Bashevis Singer about a goat who is slated to be sold so her owner can afford Hanukkah presents for his family. The show, titled “Joy to the World,” also includes the true story of the Christmas Truce of 1914 on the Western Front of World War I, O. Henry’s “The Gift of the Magi” and The New York Sun’s 1897 editorial “Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus.”
The readers are Matthew Conlon, James Ewing, Terrance Fiore, Amanda Griemsmann, Sarah Hunnewell, Diana Marbury, Joe Pallister, Ben Schnickel and Tristan Vaughan. Sarah Hunnewell and James Ewing direct.
Prior to each performance, “cheese and cheer” will be offered at the Quogue triangle of shops and the Quogue Gallery.
