Hampton Theatre Company Launches Season 41 in October

authorStaff Writer on Jul 15, 2025

The Hampton Theatre Company will kick off its 41st season this fall with a lineup of four productions, continuing the momentum from a landmark anniversary year. All performances will take place at the company’s longtime home at Quogue Community Hall.

The 2025 to 2026 season includes “The Thanksgiving Play” (October 16 to November 2), “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” (December 12 to 14), the musical “I Do! I Do!” (March 12 to 29), and the fast-paced comic thriller “The 39 Steps” (May 21 to June 7).

The season opens with “The Thanksgiving Play” by Larissa FastHorse, a satirical comedy that skewers performative wokeness as a group of well-meaning educators attempt to devise a culturally sensitive Thanksgiving production. Directed by Mary Powers, the play launches HTC’s new “Women in Theater” initiative, spotlighting plays written and directed by women.

In December, HTC brings back its holiday tradition with “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry, with music by Kevin Connors. Presented in the style of a 1940s radio broadcast, the show features 5 to 8 cast members performing multiple roles, live sound effects and vintage commercials. Directed by Andrew Botsford, performances run for three days only, December 12 through December 14.

The spring production, “I Do! I Do!,” is a beloved two-person musical by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, chronicling 50 years of marriage in a single bedroom. Directed by Rosemary Cline, performances run March 12 to March 29. The show features the memorable song “My Cup Runneth Over,” a chart-topping hit in the late 1960s.

Closing the season is “The 39 Steps,” a comic whirlwind based on the Alfred Hitchcock thriller. A cast of four plays more than 50 characters in a spoof that blends suspense with slapstick. Performances are scheduled for May 21 through June 7.

HTC President Roger Moley said the company remains committed to producing high-quality theater amid rising costs and ongoing challenges.

“A lot of people aren’t aware that we’re a professional theater company, not a community troupe,” Moley said. “We want our audience to leave thinking our shows rival those on Broadway.”

Moley also highlighted HTC’s investment in local talent, noting that several cast members are alumni of the Diana and Peter Marbury Scholarship, which supports students pursuing the performing arts in college.

Founded in 1984, the Hampton Theatre Company is based in Quogue and presents four productions annually. Last season’s finale, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” was among the company’s most acclaimed performances, starring HTC veterans Andrew Botsford and Rosemary Cline.

Schedules, tickets and subscriptions, including discounted three-play packages, are available at hamptontheatre.org or by calling 631-653-8955.
