The Church will open a new multi-media exhibition titled “Here & There: The First Churchennial” on October 5, showcasing the first three years of its artist residency program from 2021 through 2024. The exhibition will run through December 29 and will feature works by more than 40 artists in a variety of visual media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and video art. Events and workshops in performance, music, and the written word will also be part of the program.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and no RSVP is required.
Executive Director Sheri Pasquarella said the residency program has had a significant impact on artists from the East End and around the world. “It is thrilling to see how the residency has impacted the lives of so many artists; we are excited to present a platform that will allow them to share their work and deepen community connections,” she said.
Since its founding, The Church’s residency program has featured more than 128 artists and thinkers. The year-round program offers living and working space, as well as opportunities for community engagement and collaboration. It includes special cycles such as the Community Residency, which provides studio space to artists from the South Fork, and the Group Practices cycle, supporting collaborative projects in dance, performance, and music composition.
