Hot Club of Montauk returns to the Wamponamon Masonic Music Series with a concert in Sag Harbor on Saturday, March 7, at 8 p.m. The band plays a combination of gypsy, jazz and roots music and is inspired by the legendary Quintette du Hot Club de France, which was founded in Paris in 1934 led by guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappeli. The band remained active in one form or another until 1948.

Today, there are Hot Clubs in Norway, Tokyo, San Francisco, New York and probably every country where the guitar is played. It is through the playing of the brilliant gypsy guitarist Reinhardt that most people are introduced to jazz manouche, as they call the style in its birthplace, France.

The Masonic Music Series is produced by the Freemason Brothers of Wamponamon Lodge. Performances are in the unique inner sanctum of the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor. The $20 admission supports gifts to local charities. The Masonic Temple is at 200 Main Street, Sag Harbor, above the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. There is with plenty of parking to the rear of the building. For more information visit masonicmusicseries.com.
