This weekend, Bedside Reading, the hotel amenity that places a wide variety of complimentary books in the rooms of guests staying at select hotels and inns on the East End, is back. Starting Friday, August 9, Bedside Reading is offering guests a selection of historical and fantasy fiction, memoirs, suspense and children’s and young adult titles from the program’s participating authors. The August 9 weekend books also help put readers in the mood for the East Hampton Library’s 20th Annual Authors Night taking place August 10 and preview the Bedside Reading’s author event at the Capri Southampton on August 21.

“Every summer weekend is a time to kick back, relax and enjoy a good book by the water,” said Jane Ubell-Meyer, founder of Bedside Reading. “And this weekend is even more special with many authors visiting the Hamptons to share their newest books.”

August 9 weekend book selection includes: “The Good Heart” by Ursula Werner (WWII historical fiction); “Our Little Secret” by Lisa Jackson (thriller); “The Location Shoot” by Patricia Leavy (woman’s fiction); “Fleeing France” by Alan Hlad (WWII historical fiction); “All the Dark Voices” by Phil Myles Dane (thriller); “A Northern Light in Provence” by Elizabeth Birkelund (literary fiction); “Drawn From Life” by Sarah Blanchard (thriller).

Founded in 2017, Bedside Reading’s mission is to help authors build their fan base by connecting their books to readers and providing hotel guests the opportunity to unplug and delve into the world of words at some of the world’s most sought-after destinations.

Books are complimentary to the following hotels and inns: East Hampton — Mill House Inn, The Maidstone. Journey East Hampton, and Baker House 1650; Southampton — Southampton Inn, 1708 House and Capri Southampton; Montauk — MARRAM and Beachcomber Resort at Montauk.
