Like opera? Want to see it performed live in a gorgeous setting?
Well, here’s your chance.
On Friday, August 2, LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton is presenting “Summer Concert: Opera al Fresco” with conductor Eve Queler leading soprano Teresa Castillo and tenor Matthew White.
Ms. Queler, a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) recipient, is using the venue to introduce Ms. Castillo and Mr. White, two new talents in the opera genre.
Hailed for her vocal “power and florid elegance,” Ms. Castillo has appeared at New York’s Carnegie Hall in conjunction with the “Bel Canto at Caramoor” program, at the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland, Florida, and in the inaugural season of Teatro Nuova in Milan, Italy. This summer, she is making her debut at the Princeton Festival singing the role of Chiang Ch’ing (Madame Moo) in “Nixon in China.”
Mr. White is a recent graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where he has performed in “La Traviata,” “Ariadne auf Naxos,” “Die Zauberflote,” “Gianni Schicchi” and “Romeo and Juliet.”
The tentative program includes “Bell Song” from Delibe’s “Lakme,” “Che gelida Manina” from Puccini’s “La Boheme,” “Questa Quella” and “Caro Nome” from Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” “Che il bel sogno” from “La Rondine” by Puccini and more.
“Summer Concert: Opera al Fresco” on Friday, August 2, begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by the performance at 7 p.m. LongHouse Reserve is located at 133 Hands Creek Road in East Hampton. Tickets start at $75.
