The late artist David Geiser will be the subject of a talk at LongHouse Reserve presented by his son, Jake Ruehl, on Saturday, May 17, at 3 p.m.
In his two-hour talk, “The Artistic Journey and Journals of David Geiser,” Ruehl will be sharing stories and insights from Geiser’s remarkable life and career, as captured in his 25 personal journals spanning over four decades.
From his early days in San Francisco’s underground comix scene, to his artistic evolution in Paris, Spain, Morocco and Greece, and finally, to his years in New York and the Hamptons, David Geiser’s journey was as creative as it was adventurous.
Ruehl will also be introducing “Geiser,” a newly published book that brings together his father’s writings and art. Every attendee at the talk will receive a free digital copy of both the book and a catalog of his work.
“Whether you’re an art lover, a fan of personal stories, or simply curious about the creative process, I hope you’ll join me for this intimate afternoon,” said Ruehl. “It’s a chance to explore the inspirations, challenges and triumphs that shaped David Geiser’s unique vision and to celebrate the enduring power of art.”
Tickets are $25 to $35 at longhouse.org. LongHouse Reserve is at 133 Hands Creek Road in East Hampton.
