Judy Sleed’s coloring book "The Fight of the Crayons” is a tender tale with a peaceful resolution. It offers a timeless message of love and acceptance for children of all different colors, sizes, and shapes.
On Saturday, February 8, at 1 p.m., Sleed will be at the East Hampton Library to share the story of “The Fight of the Crayons,” which gives readers an opportunity to be creative, but they don't need to be an artist to enjoy this interactive coloring book.
Sleed, a playwright and musician, was born in Budapest, Hungary. She was 12 years old in October, 1944 when the Nazis occupied Hungary and took away her mother, father and brother, leaving her alone. It was the last time she saw them. As a Holocaust child during wartime, she used her difficult experiences as a means to create a tale for children. Being a sole survivor of her family, she had a message to share — one of hope and peace, not conflict and strife.
