Last month Keith Skretch, formerly of Southampton, received a 2018 Ovation Award in Los Angeles in the category of Best Projection Design in a Large Venue for his work on “Time Alone,” the inaugural production of Belle Rêve Theatre Company.

The son of Theodore Skretch and East End landscape painter Eileen Skretch, Keith Skretch grew up in Southampton, attending Our Lady of the Hamptons and the Ross School. He completed degrees at the University of Chicago and California Institute of the Arts and has designed video projections for live performance and installation internationally for more than a decade. Mr. Skretch previously received the American Theatre Wing’s Henry Hewes Design Award and a Bessie Award, both for his work on 2014’s “This Was The End,” and he was a finalist for the 2017 Sherwood Award. He now lives in Los Angeles.

“Time Alone,” by Academy Award-nominated writer Alessandro Camon, traces the parallel paths of two lives broken by violence on opposite sides of the criminal justice system, exploring the deep loneliness which ties them together. Mr. Skretch’s design featured ghostly images of the actors projected onto the stage alongside them, aimed at creating the sensation of a timeline fraying at the seams. The world premiere production has received multiple awards and was nominated for Ovations in four other categories, including Best Production of a Play.

The 29th annual La Stage Alliance Ovation Awards were held on January 28 at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The Ovation Awards are the only peer-judged theater awards in Los Angeles, created to recognize excellence in theatrical performance, production, and design in the Greater Los Angeles area.
