The East Hampton Historical Society on Friday, March 11, at 7 p.m. will hold its monthly virtual book club featuring Geoff Gehman and his 2013 book, “The Kingdom of the Kid: Growing up in the Long-Lost Hamptons.”

Set in Wainscott, the book offers a memorable portrait of an indelible childhood on Long Island’s South Fork from 1967-1972. It isn’t just another baby-boomer coming-of-age memoir about baseball, beaches, fast cars, divorce and redemption. It’s a pilgrimage to a childhood spent in a special place at a special time and will strike a chord in anyone who has lived in the Hamptons or has wondered about living in the Hamptons.

Gehman and other historical society members will discuss the book, its place in East Hampton history and its meaning today. The book is available for purchase or download on Amazon. Email Marianne Della Croce at info@easthamptonhistory.org for information, registration and a Zoom link to the event.
