“What I’m trying to do here is inspire people to live their best lives, enjoy life, and do more of the things they love,” says Nancy Remkus, ordained interfaith minister and current pastor of the Old Whalers’ Church in Sag Harbor.

Join a celebration of community and inspiration at The Church on Friday, May 5, at 6 p.m. as the Knowledge Friday series continues. Remkus, a beloved former school teacher and singer-songwriter, will speak about her work and the inspiration she draws from her seaside hometown. Remkus served Sag Harbor for 30 years as an elementary school teacher and infused her love of music and the arts into the creation of the “Morning Program,” a program students remember well into adulthood. As a former trustee of the Sag Harbor Historical Society, Remkus can speak to the history of this town from a place of experience and expertise. Known on the East End for her music and performance, Remkus reminds us all, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” Won’t you be our neighbor?

Nancy Remkus is a third-generation Sag Harbor native. She has a tremendous love of her hometown and has stood by and watched it grow, evolve and change. She holds on to dear memories of simpler times and a childhood filled with fresh air, fresh ideas and lots of fresh fish. As a singer-songwriter, Remkus produced four CDs and performed throughout the East End. Described as a blend of Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell with a touch of the Electric Company meets Mr. Rogers, Remkus has earned awards and accolades for her music and performances.

Tickets for Knowledge Friday with Nancy Remkus are $10 (free for members). Reserve at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is at 48 Madison Street, Sag Harbor.
