The Education Department of the Parrish Art Museum announced that teaching artist Linda Capello’s popular Life Drawing classes will resume at the museum with a series of six sessions every Monday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., August 17, 24 to September 28 (no class September 7). Participants may enroll in the entire series or for specific dates. Advance online ticket purchase with pre-registration is required. Enrollment is limited to 10 total students for each session.

In the classes, open to all skill levels age 15 and older, participants develop drawing skills in weekly classes led by Capello by practicing drawing male and female models through gesture sketches and longer duration observation. Participants are asked to provide their own dry media supplies and must wear a face covering to enter the museum.

“We’re delighted to be able to reintroduce classes for adults at the Museum and to begin with Linda Capello’s Life Drawing,” said Cara Conklin-Wingfield, Parrish education director. “Attendance will be limited, resulting in a more intimate setting for students to practice and improve their skills.”

Linda Capello is a master of figure drawing. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, she worked in the fashion industry in New York City for over 20 years.

“All I have ever wanted to do was draw, and all I have ever wanted to draw were people,” said Capello. “I am a classically trained anatomist, but instead of the rigid, mechanical representation of muscle, bone and flesh, I look for the subtlety of the line; the strength and sensuality of the thick, thin and lost line. The curve of the neck and arch of the spine speak volumes.”
