'Lord of the Flies' on stage at Performing Arts Center March 19

author on Mar 9, 2010

Tickets are currently available to the public for the National Players’ riveting production of “Lord of the Flies” at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 19, at 9:30 a.m.

William Golding’s gripping tale about a group of English schoolboys who are plane-wrecked on a deserted island explores the boundary between human reason and animal instinct, all on the brutal playing field of adolescent competition. This adaptation of the classic novel will no doubt once again ignite passionate debate with its startling portrait of human nature.

“Lord of the Flies” is part of the Arts Center’s “School Day Performances” series, which not only supports and enhances school curriculum, but also serves to expand children’s experiences and their world view. The series makes direct connections to New York State Learning Standards, while at the same time providing opportunities for young people to experience the magic and transformative power of the arts.

Appropriate for ages 11 to 16, “Lord of the Flies” is 90 minutes, plus a brief Q&A. For more information on this performance, visit: whbpac.org/pages/events_detail.php?event_id=215.

Ticket are $10, available by calling Cheryl Wheeler at 288-2350, ext. 102; e-mailing CherylW@whbpac.org; or by visiting the the PAC at 76 Main Street in Westhampton Beach.
