The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC) presents a weekend of distinctive music featuring Grammy Award-winning band Los Lobos and legendary singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones, offering fans a rare opportunity to experience these iconic artists for two unforgettable nights of music and celebration. On Saturday, October 12, at 8 p.m. Los Lobos’ genre-defying blend of rock, blues and Mexican folk music takes the stage, with Jones’s unparalleled voice and poetic storytelling closing out the weekend on Sunday, October 13.

Known for their dynamic fusion of rock, blues, and traditional Latin sounds, Los Lobos has captivated audiences for decades with hits like “La Bamba” and “Will the Wolf Survive.” A major turning point came in 1987 with the release of the Ritchie Valens biopic, “La Bamba,” with the quintet’s cover of Valens’s signature song topping the charts in the U.S. and the U.K. Los Lobos has sold millions of records, won prestigious awards and made fans around the world. But perhaps its most lasting impact will be how well its music embodies the idea of America as a cultural melting pot. In it, styles like son jarocho, norteño, Tejano, folk and country, doo-wop, soul, and R&B blend with rock ’n’ roll and punk to create a new sound that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Los Lobos has enjoyed critical success, winning the Grammy for Best Mexican-American Performance for “Anselma” from its 1983 EP “…And a Time to Dance.”

The next evening, songstress and two-time Grammy Award winner Rickie Lee Jones shares her timeless tracks such as “Chuck E.’s in Love” and “We Belong Together.” Jones has been inspiring pop culture for decades, beginning with her star-making self-titled debut, followed by the seminal “Pirates.” Named the “premier song-stylist and songwriter of her generation” by The New Yorker, and “The Duchess of Coolsville” by Time magazine, Jones released her Grammy-nominated album “Pieces of Treasure” in 2023, a reunion with Russ Titelman, who produced her first two records. Jones’s celebrated memoir “Last Chance Texaco” was named Book of the Year by MOJO and a Best Book of the Year at Pitchfork and NPR.

“This weekend promises a unique pairing of artists who have left an indelible mark on the music world,” said Heather Draskin, WHBPAC’s marketing director. “We’re looking forward to two powerful performances that will be a highlight of our fall concert season.”

Both acts are celebrated for their musical versatility, masterful storytelling, and genre-defying creativity, and fans can expect an electrifying evening of classic hits, and deep cuts that showcase the artists’ remarkable talents and enduring influence.

Tickets for Los Lobos are $87 to $115 and for Rickie Lee Jones $69 to $92 at whbpac.org, 631-288-1500 or at the box office located at 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach during business hours.
