In past three years, Music for Montauk, under the direction of Lilah Gosman and Miloš Repický, has made its Summer Series into a seasonal tradition, bringing world-class musical performances in some of Montauk’s beautiful and iconic outdoor venues.

The performances are timed to end just before sunset so the combination of location, light and music creates an unforgettable experience. The free concerts last just over an hour and the audience can enjoy ‘bring your own’ picnics.

The Summer Series kicks off on Sunday, August 20 at 5 p.m. with “The Opening of the Wells,” at the Fort Pond House located at 128 Second House Road. This performance draws inspiration from a Moravian custom to celebrate the fresh flow of spring water in the new season. Soprano Raquel González from the Washington National Opera performs Rusalka’s “Song to the Moon” by Antonin Dvořák.

Summer Series continues on Tuesday, August 22 at 8 p.m. with the Pedro Giraudo Tango and special guest vocalist Sofia Tosello at Solé East, 90 Second House Road. Grammy Award winning bassist leads the ensemble with Rodolfo Zanetti on bandoneón and pianist Emilio Teubal. Tickets for this event are $20.

This year, M4M will host “Mozart for Montauk,” including virtuoso soloists and a full-scale symphony on Thursday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Third House in Montauk County Park. Annaliesa Place plays the Violin Concerto in A, award-winning mezzo-soprano Amanda Lynn Bottoms sings Mozart’s aria “Parto, ma tu ben mio.” Clarinetist Benjamin Fingland will play the Clarinet Concerto. The soloists will be accompanied by M4M’s Chamber Orchestra who will then perform Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 in G minor.

Music for Montauk will present a Sunset Salon at the Art Barge on Napeague Meadow Road on Friday, August 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. This event features the music of J.S. Bach, Kurt Weill and Rebecca Clarke along with new works by M4M’s composer-performers Jessica Meyers and Diego Garcia in an immersive musical experience with a sunset view. Also featured is mezzo-soprano Amanda Lynn Bottoms, violinists Joanna Maurer and Annaliesa Place, cocktails and light fare. Tickets for this benefit for Music for Montauk are $150 ($100 tax deductible).

The Summer Series concludes Saturday, August 26 with the Schumann Piano Quintet at 6:30 p.m. at the Third House in Montauk County Park. Artistic Directors Lilah Gosman and Miloš Repický join M4M’s string quartet of Annaliesa Place, Joanna Maurer, Jessica Meyer and Diego García for songs and Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E flat Major. The finale event will have free admission.

Tickets for all the Music for Montauk concerts and more information is available at musicformontauk.org.
