Tweens will be able to create fun digital art at The Southampton Cultural Center using software called Sound2Paint during a special program on Thursday, August 25 from 11 a.m. to noon.

The program is designed to give young people the opportunity and ability to be artistically creative anywhere using novel and easy to use online software. The software allows young people to use sound to create dynamic paintings. “SoundPainters,” as users are called, are encouraged to experiment and explore to create artworks by changing color, shape, form and content. According to Dr. Tom Riedl, creator of the program and founder of VisiSound Technologies, “Our purpose is to give young people better alternatives online and to stir an interest in being artistically creative in positive ways and have fun doing so. They don't have to have any art experience or special talent; they can create artworks that are uniquely theirs that they will be proud to show. We salute the Southampton Cultural Center for giving young people this opportunity – we sincerely believe all will benefit from it. We feel Sound2Paint is a truly good use of computer technology.”

Children ages eight to 12 are invited to participate and must register at Sound2Paint.com. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and should bring a laptop, notebook, iPad or Android tablet to use at the event.
