'Mamele' Leads Cultural Center's Inaugural Jewish Film Festival

In partnership with the Southampton Chabad Jewish Center, the Southampton Cultural Center will kick off its inaugural Jewish Film Festival with “Mamele” on Sunday at 7:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with actress June Gable.

The program, which will run through September 6, features an array of archival cinematic works, curated by Tina Silverman, that highlight Jewish life in Europe prior to World War II, as well as the Holocaust and its aftermath.

Additional films will screen every Sunday at 7:30 p.m. They include: “Orchestra of Exiles” on July 12; “Kol Nidre” on July 19; “His Wife’s Lover” on July 26; “The Rape of Europa” on August 2; “The Cantor’s Son” on August 9; “Being Jewish in France” on August 16; “Zahor” and “Buchenwald Ball” on August 23; “Jews of the Spanish Homeland” and “The Last Marranos” on August 30; and “Exodus” on September 6.
