The Sag Harbor American Music Festival (SHAMF) runs from September 22 to 25 with a full lineup of bands and musicians offering free music throughout the village.

This year’s SHAMF poster art is “Musicians at the Sag Harbor Yacht Yard,” by Maryann Lucas. The work depicts Joe Delia & Thieves and the original painting is on view at Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor. Each year the festival sells raffle tickets for chances to win the original painting used in the festival’s cover art. This is the 11th painting Lucas has created for the Sag Harbor American Music Festival.

“The sun was bright, and it was already very humid when I met up with Joe Delia and the Thieves early one morning last July. Making the SHAMF 2022 painting was about to begin,” writes a Lucas. “Joe and the band unloaded their gear — guitars, drums, and a keyboard — while I directed their placement. The backdrop for this year’s painting would be the bustling docks and beautiful vista of The Sag Harbor Yacht Yard, a maritime mainstay in Sag Harbor since 1797. On this particular morning, a glistening black vessel in the marine lift, literally hung in the air behind them as the musicians played to my camera. I snapped and clicked. They sang and posed in dynamic shapes. It was all just picture perfect for the painting I had in mind.”

To see the artwork in person, visit Romany Kramoris Gallery at 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor.
