Donna’s House Productions is preparing for its third annual Mastic Beach Mini Indie Film Festival, which will take place the first weekend in November. The three day festival runs November 5-7, and takes place at Donna’s House Productions art gallery/reception space located at 373 Neighborhood Road Mastic Beach and the main screening venue at 31 Neighborhood Road.
This season, the festival will be hybrid, allowing for either an in-person or a virtual experience. The programming will feature new additions this year including a juried student film category with a small scholarship, a screenplay submission category with organized readings and a midnight horror block slated for Saturday evening.
Closing out the festival on Sunday, November 7, will be Austin Pendleton, a veteran of the industry appearing in over 250 films, scores of plays on and off Broadway. He will be presented with the festival’s first Grit Award, demonstrating determination and perseverance in the industry as well as a retrospective talk, film and clips compiled from his work. The festival will also present The Pearl award to a student juried film along with a small scholarship.
Each screening block will include live and pre-taped introductions and Q&As with the filmmakers providing special insight into their experiences as artists within the industry.
