On April 18, Hampton Bays’ Matthew Raynor suffered a spinal cord injury in a diving accident near Towd’s Point in North Sea that has left him permanently paralyzed from the upper chest down. A commercial fisherman and a photographer, Mr. Raynor now faced with this new challenge, hopes to continue to share his artistic vision with the world while finding new ways to make art.

“Life at Sea,” an exhibition of Mr. Raynor’s images taken during his time working on fishing boats, will be on view from August 16 through 19, at the Southampton Cultural Center. On Friday, August 16, from 6 to 9 p.m., Mr. Raynor will be at the cultural center to talk about his awe-inspiring images, which exude the raw power and simultaneous peace of the natural world, and will be available for purchase.

The Southampton Cultural Center is at 25 Pond Lane, Southampton. For details on the exhibition and Raynor’s work, visit scc-arts.org or matthewraynor.com.
