Montauk Music Festival Runs May 16 To 19

author on May 14, 2019

The 10th annual Montauk Music Festival (MMF) is this weekend. In addition to offering music by over 400 artists performing in wide variety of musical styles (from alternative, rock, folk, pop, Americana, reggae, blues, jazz, bluegrass, to hip-hop, country, and more), the primary stage for the event, which runs May 16 to 19, will be the grounds of the Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum where the 111-foot tall lighthouse will serve as a beacon for music lovers in both the literal and figurative sense of the word.

“It’s the 10-year anniversary for the music festival and it’s much larger than what I used to do on the green in the middle of town,” explained festival organizer Ken Giustino in a recent interview about the festival. “The venue is so amazing, I felt it was a good spot and asked the Montauk Historical Society if we could have it there.”

“It’s just such a great venue, everybody is excited about it,” he said.

There will still be plenty of music in the center of the hamlet on the green as well as at the various restaurants, bars, hotels and yacht clubs all over Montauk. Two shuttle buses will be running throughout the weekend to ferry music lovers from downtown Montauk out to the lighthouse venue.

The MMF is a volunteer-run, grassroots live music event designed to celebrate, support, and promote the thriving Montauk music scene while showcasing and stimulating the burgeoning artistic, commercial and pedestrian activity in Montauk. It features talented up-and-coming independent artists, set against the backdrop of one of the most idyllic beach communities on the East Coast.

So make plans, grab your blanket and beach chairs, bring your family and friends, and escape to Montauk for a weekend of music. The opening party for the Montauk Music Festival is Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Westlake Fish House. Tickets are $50 which includes appetizers and free sponsored drinks along with music all night long.

The music will run daily through May 19 with Saturday and Sunday open-air concerts and festival workshops at the Montauk Lighthouse from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. where food, beer and wine will be sold. Visit montaukmusicfestival.com for the complete schedule.
