Music, cultural programs offered at Rogers Library in Southampton

The Southampton Historical Museum and Rogers Memorial Library will host The King’s Chapel Church of God in Christ gospel choir, “Showers of Blessing” on Saturday, February 6, at 3 p.m. at the Rogers Mansion on Meeting House Lane in Southampton Village.

The hour-long concert will feature a variety of music, from praise and worship songs and traditional hymns to contemporary gospel.

Donations will be accepted at the door, and reservations are required to attend the concert. Call 283-2494 to register, or to get more information.

In other musical events at the library, the Friends of the Rogers Memorial Library are offering a free afternoon concert featuring Evelyn Ulex on piano on Sunday, February 7, at 3 p.m. The concert will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Romantic composer Robert Schumann.

Ms. Ulex, a German pianist with an international concert career, will perform some of Schumann’s most celebrated compositions. A reception will follow.

Also coming up at the library, at noon on Wednesday, February 10, the library will offer “Memorable Meals for Everyday Cooks” with Cynthia Battaglia, chef and owner of Cynthia Battaglia Distinctive Catering. Ms. Battaglia will demonstrate how to make beef bourguignonne and chocolate truffles.

Mary Angela Buffo, owner of Ananda Yoga in Southampton, will present “The Law of Attraction: Creating the Life You Want” on Thursday, February 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Rogers Memorial Library. Ms. Buffo, a yoga teacher, spiritual counselor and mentor for more than 12 years, will talk about how everyday thoughts and beliefs are responsible for how one experiences life. Exercises designed to help one become better at paying attention to natural principles of attraction will be offered to create the freedom, joy and abundance desired in one’s life.
