Music for Montauk will bring its first ever Summer Series to the hamlet, offering residents and visitors alike a week of innovative chamber music in spectacular outdoor settings and intimate salon concerts August 11 through August 15.

The non-profit, community-based organization is under the new leadership of artistic directors Lilah Gosman – a Montauk native – and her husband, Milos Repicky. The couple has assembled a collaborative of top tier musicians to perform throughout the week in events varying from pop-up music throughout Montauk, a tango trio performance, and Saint-Saens’ festive “Carnival of the Animals,” which will headline one of two family-friendly concerts under a festival tent at Third House in Montauk County Park.

On Tuesday, August 11, Montauk will be flooded with classical music with surprise performances celebrating the hamlet’s outdoor spaces and public venues. The Summer Series will continue with Pedro Giraudo’s Tango Trio performing at Sole East on August 12 at 8 p.m. A featured bassist on multiple Grammy Award winning recordings, Mr. Giraudo’s trio is rounded out by pianist Rodolfo Zanetti and bandoneon player Emilio Teubal. Tickets are $20 and benefit Music for Montauk.

On Thursday, August 13, a chamber orchestra of strings, winds, two pianos and percussion will perform the “Carnival of the Animals” in the biggest concert planned for the week and one of two planned for Montauk County Park. On August 15, Antonin Dvorak’s melodious String Quartet in F, also known as the “American” Quartet, will be performed at a concert celebrating American composers including Charles Ives, Aaron Copland and Lou Harrison. Concertgoers are encouraged to picnic at both events at Third House, which are free and open to the public.

On Friday, August 14, a special benefit for the non profit will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at a private residence. Salon Español will feature Spanish-inspired music performed on guitar, with a string quartet and vocals in a spectacular sunset setting, complimented by tapas and wine. Tickets are $150 and only 50 will be sold.
