Music For Montauk will present “La Tragedie de Carmen” in a free staged concert performance on Saturday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at the Montauk Public School.

“La Tragedie de Carmen,” written by Georges Bizet and adapted by Marius Constant, won the 1984 special Tony Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre.

Anthony Laciura is the director of this East End production. A cast of 10 singer/actors will be in full costume, singing the arias in the original French, with English translations during the hour-and-a-half-long production.

Artwork for the stage background is being produced by the students of the Montauk Public School.

Now in its 19th season, Music For Montauk is an organization made up of Montauk and East End residents.
