Music for Montauk will kick off the 2017 Season with a “Spring Prelude” free concert on May 13 at 4 p.m. in the Montauk School Auditorium.

Followers of M4M’s will enjoy a musical taste of the season ahead featuring string quartet, piano quintet, and a vocal finale.

“We have everything from the most intimate song to a Mozart Symphony this season,” board member Miloš Repicky said. The group will add new venues like Art Barge to add to the list of settings for Music for Montauk’s events.

M4M favorites Annaliesa Place (violin), Diego Garcia (cello), and Mr. Repicky (piano) will be joined by Metropolitan Opera Orchestra’s Joanna Maurer (violin) and Angela Pickett (viola) of Sybarite 5. Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor helps bring in a new season, while Claude Debussy’s delicate “La Fille aux cheveux du lin” (“The Girl with Flaxen Hair”), arranged for string quartet, hints at the warmth of coming summer. Francis Poulenc’s song settings of femme fatale Louise de Vilmorin’s poems “Fiançailles pour rire” (“Betrothal for Laughs”) focus a distinctly feminine perspective on life and love. The entire M4M ensemble then turns into an opera orchestra to accompany Bellini’s “Qui la voce sua soave” from I Puritani building to a triumphant finale.

To celebrate the start of Montauk’s season, a post-concert “Spring Awakening Party” will be held at Gosman’s Restaurant from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Advance reception tickets $35 and $40 at the door, available in person at White’s Liquors and Naturally Good or at musicformontauk.org.
