A “Group Show” curated by painter Mark Perry will be held at Ashawagh Hall, 780 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, from Friday, July 16, to Monday, July 20. The show opens with a reception on Saturday, July 17, from 5 to 8 p.m.
This “Group Show” is the second curatorial endeavor of Perry, who invited some of the artists from his 2018 curatorial debut to take part, including Roy Nicholson, Denise Gale, Gus Yero, George Singer, Scott Bluedorn and John Haubrich with two additions, Laurie Hall and Kirsten Benfield, and Perry rounding out the nine.
Work being “new” was not a prerequisite, and Perry visited studios and selected works from the artist’s archives, almost all of it previously unseen. With a heavy concentration on painting, focusing on landscape, abstraction and the convergence of nature in both, there is also some collage and mixed media works rounding out the show — and some surprises.
