“Noah’s Daughters: Soft Bodies in Hard Times,” a newly commissioned choreographed dance work created in response to “The Ark” exhibition, will debut at The Church on Sunday, August 24, at 4 p.m.

The performance marks The Church’s first-ever choreographic commission. It is created and performed by award-winning Cuban-born choreographer Claudia Hilda alongside dancer Danny Quintana. Costume design is by Eleanore Jeffreys with live music by vocalist and composer Alex Koi.

Blending movement, video, text and live sound, “Noah’s Daughters” explores themes of resilience, identity and transformation through a multidisciplinary lens. Hilda, formerly a principal dancer with the Cuban National Company of Contemporary Dance, draws on her diasporic experience and a decadelong international performance career to craft this site-specific work. Quintana, also a veteran of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba and MalPaso Dance Company, brings a foundation in Afro-Cuban and contemporary dance forms.

Costume designer Jeffreys, a recent graduate of Syracuse University, incorporates experimental wearable art into the performance while Koi’s music will be performed live, adding an immersive sonic layer.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for members, available at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is located at 48 Madison Street, Sag Harbor. Space is limited and advance reservations are recommended.
