Organización Latino-Americana of Eastern Long Island is holding a party “por paz y unidad,” or “for peace and unity,” on Saturday, March 11, at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, and welcoming the entire East End community to enjoy live music and dancing.

The event is being billed as Pachanga, which loosely translates to “dance party,” and it features 28 local singers and musicians, and several genres. In addition to a number of special guests, Mambo Loco will play salsa, Certain Moves will play R&B and Carolina Fuentes will present Mila Tina, an electro-Latino audiovisual and dance performance.

The party will also include the official debut of an R&B song inspired by the community and including many diverse voices.

“By the end of the summer, when all the negative rhetoric around the election was building, I was convinced that we must create a project that showed how beautifully our East End represents unity, generosity and collaboration,” explained OLA executive director Minerva Perez.

Ms. Perez said she reached out to 12 singers and 16 musicians of diverse ethnic backgrounds, and under the musical direction of Willy Fuentes with the assistance of his daugher Carolina, a song came together that features both child and adult voices, sung in both Spanish and English.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Call 631-725-9500 or visit baystreet.org. For groups of 10 or more, call 631-899-3441.
