The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will host a casting call for members of the community interested in participating in the next iteration of The Hamptons Get Mortified. Producers from Mortified NYC will conduct private interviews on Saturday, March 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Museum. Casting is open to anyone age 22 and older who is willing to reveal stories about their lives by sharing embarrassing childhood artifacts (journals, letters, poems, lyrics, plays, home movies, art) before an audience at The Hamptons Get Mortified, Vol. 3 scheduled for Friday, July 15 at the museum. Those interested in participating must submit an application online at http://getmortified.com/participate/ by Monday, March 21 to be considered for the in-person interviews at the museum.

“The Museum’s past forays into the Mortified program showed that East End audiences are enthusiastic about this format,” says Amy Kirwin, Visitor Services & Museum Programs Manager. “Because the Parrish strives to provide programs of particular interest to the East End community, and Mortified producers were looking to expand casting outside of New York City, it was clear that the time had come to present members of our own community in the Program—as we do with PechaKucha.”

Mortified was created in 2002 by Neil Katcher and David Nadelberg, who discovered an undelivered teenage love letter and sent a few emails to friends to learn who might be interested in sharing childhood writings on stage. The email went viral and resulted in a tremendous nationwide response. Over a decade later, what began with a single communication transformed into a movement that includes a range of participants—from advertising executives to attorneys to actors—who want to participate in Mortified.
