Playwriting class for young people

author on Feb 2, 2010

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is still accepting applications for enrollment in its playwriting master class for children age 11 and up.

The one-day master class, taught by playwright Sandy Biano, will educate students on how to use words, dialogue, and action to create scenes that make people laugh or cry; jump or shout; run or hide; all from the very things that happen every day. It is set to take place on Saturday, February 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fee is $125.

Ms. Biano is a teaching artist who boasts an extensive background in classical theater, acting, playwriting and journalism. An award-winning playwright and former reporter for The New York Times, she has the power to unleash creative energy and help children turn everyday stories into dramatic events.

If attendees have writing they would like to share, they are welcome to bring it to the master class.

For more information, contact Cheryl Wheeler at 288-2350 ext. 102 or e-mail her at CherylW@whbpac.org, or visit the Performing Arts Center’s website at www.whbpac.org.

The box office can be reached at 288-1500.
