Brazilian artist and author Andre Costa will open “Poetics of Residue” at the Lucille Knornak Gallery, 77 Jobs Lane in Southampton, on Saturday, July 18 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. The show will be on view through August 1.

Mr. Costa is a visual artist and the author of the “Art with Environmental Interface” project he began in 1989 with conventional molds and methods for material manufacturing. Mr. Costa proposes a dialogue between art and communication, ethics and aesthetics, between the local and the global.

According to the Lucille Khornak Gallery, the artist’s work invites people to reflect about waste and exaggeration around the world using the residues of visual communication. With a strong influence by Pop Art, Mr. Costa has drawn inspiration from artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.
