Colson Whitehead, winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for “The Underground Railroad,” will speak at the Hampton Library’s Fridays at Five on July 28. In Whitehead’s highly acclaimed book, he continues his inquiry into race, mythology and history in America.
Fridays at Five, a longstanding literary tradition on the South Fork, will continue on August 4 with Kati Marton, author of “True Believer: Stalin’s Last American Spy.” A Hungarian-American author and journalist, Marton’s recent book is a real-life spy thriller about the double life of Noel Field, an American who betrayed his country and his family, all in a quest for a life of meaning that went horribly wrong.
Ina Garten will present with Rob Marshall on August 11 on her book, “Cooking For Jeffrey.” Garten, a celebrated chef and cookbook author and the former owner of East Hampton gourmet food mecca, Barefoot Contessa, will be interviewed by Marshall, a filmmaker and producer with over 26 Academy Award nomination, and nine Oscars to call his own. Carl Bernstein will round out the series on August 25 with his discussion of “All The President’s Men” to “A Woman In Charge: The Life Of Hillary Clinton.” Bernstein’s books reveal the inner-workings of government, politics and the hidden stories of Washington and its leaders.
