The Bridgehampton Historical Society’s 16th Annual Vintage Car Road Rally went forward “rain or shine” just as promised – and rain it did! Of the 21 rally participants registered 15 ran the full course through the South Fork. Many a back road was flooded but our rallyists stuck it out and the winners were announced Saturday evening as follows:
First Place Driver Richard Weintraub, Navigator Stephen Geller in a 1955 MG TF-1500
Second Place: Driver Daniel Rowen, Navigator Coco Myers in a 1953 Siata 208SÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Third Place went to a new team from East Hampton, Driver Anthony Liberatore and Navigator  James DeMartis in Liberatore’s 1956 sage green Ford Thunderbird.
Though Mr. Liberatore competed last year with another Navigator, this was Mr. DeMartis’ first rally. This is not a speed race. Competitors are judged for their accuracy in passing timing stations at the appointed intervals – arrive too soon and you lose points!
Silver platters were awarded to the Rally winners at the Rally wrap party which featured music by The Sunnyland Jazz Band.
On Sunday many more prized were awarded to winners at the Bridgehampton’s Annual Car Show including:                                                                                                                                The People’s Choice First Prize to Robert Schmitter’s 1973 Porsche Martini                             Â
