Reflections in Music Presents ‘Sound & Spirit(s)’

authorStaff Writer on Oct 25, 2023

The innovative Reflections in Music series is back with artistic director Bruce Wolosoff and a group of all-star musicians inviting audiences on a soul-stirring journey through classical music with “Sound & Spirit(s),” a program at The Church on Friday, November 10, at 7 p.m. The concert is an exploration of sacred (and perhaps a touch of not-so-sacred) musical realms, featuring composer and pianist Wolosoff, violinist Michelle Barzel Ross and cellist Clarice Jensen performing music by Arvo Pärt, Eric Satie and Olivier Messiaen.

What makes this program notable is that the performers are all accomplished composers themselves and will be performing their own compositions in addition to the classics. A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of “A Piano and a Cello Walk Into a Bar,” a new concert work by distinguished film composer Carter Burwell. There will be a Q&A with the composers at the end of the performance.

Reflections in Music is a nonprofit which hopes to bring the appreciation of classical music to new audiences and to spark new ways of thinking about and engaging with the classical music experience to those who are already music lovers.

Tickets for “Sound & Spirit(s)” are $25 at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is at 48 Madison Street in Sag Harbor.
