Registration still open for vacation theater camp at Performing Arts Center

author on Feb 2, 2010

There’s still time to register for the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center’s exciting winter vacation musical theater camp.

This year, the camp will present an original adaptation of the classic children’s fable “Jack & The Beanstalk.”

The camp runs from Monday, February 15, to Friday, February 19, from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. daily, and culminates in a performance on February 19 at 7 p.m.

The goal of the winter vacation musical theatre camp is to foster the development of life skills—creativity, social skills, goal achievement and self-esteem—in children age 5-16 through participation in the performing arts. On Monday, a team of actors/directors arrives with sets, lights, costumes, props and makeup, auditions are held and by Friday, the cast is performance ready.

Every day includes a rehearsal of a musical tale, plus classes in acting, improvisation, singing, movement, theater games and more.

At the end of the week, young audience members age 3 and up will enjoy watching their peers perform in this lively, hourlong “by kids, for kids” musical.

The February 19 performance is open to the public and tickets are $15 for everyone.
