Romany Kramoris in Sag Harbor Shows Schlesinger, Maxwell Smith & Jackson

The Romany Kramoris Gallery will open the holiday weekend with a locals show, featuring Christina Schlesinger, Dinah Maxwell Smith, and Ruby Jackson. The show runs from May 21 through June 11, will host an an opening reception on Saturday, May 23, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Ms. Schlesinger is an artist and teacher who lives and works in Manhattan and  East Hampton. She taught for many years at The Ross School and is currently a curricular consultant there. In January, she had an exhibition, “All True Tomboys”, at the Leslie + Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York City. One of her Tomboy paintings will appear this summer in the Lavender Review, an on-line lesbian magazine, and another will be featured as “Miss July” in the Ms. Magazine blog “girlie calendar”.

Ms. Maxwell Smith studied painting at the Academie Julian in Paris and received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. In the loose painterly style characteristic of the Long Island School, the artist uses descriptive brushwork helps create a visual statement defining color and light, perhaps better phrased, “color as light.” She utilizes common motifs of everyday life as vehicles of expression.  Her captured moments in time stimulate our memories – an afternoon stroll, a day at the beach.
