Sag Harbor Cinema will recognize award-winning actress Naomi Watts as the first recipient of Sag Harbor Cinema’s Voyager Award at its annual benefit on Saturday, August 17, at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club. Watts starred in critically acclaimed films, such as David Lynch’s “Mullholland Drive” and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “21 Grams,” as well as celebrated television programs — most recently her remarkable performance as Babe Paley in “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.”

“We are thrilled to honor Naomi Watts at this year’s Sag Harbor Cinema Annual Benefit. Naomi’s extraordinary talent, dedication to her craft, and contributions to the film industry embody the spirit of our mission to celebrate and preserve the art form,” said Genevieve Villaflor, the cinema’s executive director. “Her work continues to inspire audiences and filmmakers alike, and we are delighted to recognize her achievements with this well-deserved honor.”

Sag Harbor Cinema’s Voyager Award celebrates those whose work in film reflects the spirit of Sag Harbor — an international port for centuries, from which artists, actors, writers and other risk-taking creatives have launched dreams and ideas, tested the waters and explored the possibilities.

“An actress of luminous depth and subtle nuances, Naomi Watts is always exciting to watch,” said Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan, the cinema’s founding artistic director. “Her choices reflect curiosity, a commitment to character and passion for film and its power, as well as the desire to engage with some of the best directors working today — from Lynch to Iñárittu, Haneke, Eastwood, Bayona, Cronenberg, and Peter Jackson — but also with younger, less proven filmmakers. That openness keeps her work lively and fresh.”

The Sag Harbor Cinema’s Annual Benefit is its most important fundraising event of the year and will take place Saturday, August 17, on the ocean at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club starting at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by a seated dinner at 7:30 p.m. In addition to honoring the work of Naomi Watts, the evening will feature music by The Hoodoo Loungers, silent and live auctions and a bonfire on the beach to end the evening.

Tickets are $1,800 each until July 29. Afterward, tickets are $2,000 each. Tables are also available. For more information, visit the cinema’s website, sagharborcinema.org.
