The Sag Harbor Partnership on Friday announced it has officially closed on the Sag Harbor Cinema property, with a few of the organization’s members heading into New York City to seal the deal on the $8 million purchase.
According to the partnership, more than 2,500 people have donated to the campaign to purchase the property from longtime owner Gerald Mallow, with an overwhelming majority of individual donations coming in at $1,000 or less. The planned Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center is also the beneficiary of several large donors and $1.4 million in New York State grant funding.
“And now, on to the building, programming, education programs and endowment for the cinema we have envisioned!” the Sag Harbor Partnership said in its announcement.
