“And Scrooge became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew.” — The Christmas Carol

But did it stick? On Saturday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. LTV Studios and Playwrights’ Theatre of East Hampton presents “Scrooge … The Relapse” by co-creators John McCaffrey and Jack Gwaltney. In an homage to Charles Dickens and his classic holiday ghost story, McCaffrey and Gwaltney conjure up a comic drama imagining Scrooge backsliding into miserdom. Jacob Marley, in a panic, sends three new “spirits” … Sigmund Freud, Karl Marx and Charles Darwin. Can they help Scrooge rekindle love in his heart for mankind, or is Scrooge doomed to bitterness forever?

John McCaffrey is the author of four published books — three collections of short stories and a dystopian novel. He is a regular contributor to The Good Man Project, Editor of the Vine Leaves Press’s 50 Give or Take Series and an Adjunct Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Jack Gwaltney is an actor and director based out of New York. He says that collaborating with John McCaffrey is one of the wisest things he does.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Visit ltveh.org to purchase. LTV Studios is at 75 Industrial Road in Wainscott.
