From May 23 to May 26, The Church is welcoming back “Sag Harbor in Focus,” a student photography show. This year, Pierson High School students and participants of the “Upcycling – Responsible Fashion Workshop,” which was supported by the Reutershan Educational Trust and facilitated by Mary Jane Marcasiano earlier this year, also taking part in the show.
The opening reception on Thursday, May 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. will begin with a fashion show featuring students modeling their spring 2024 collection and it concludes with an awards ceremony for the winners of this year’s photography exhibition and a light reception. The show is on view in The Church’s lower level from May 24 to May 26, from noon to 5 p.m. daily.
The photography exhibition highlights life in Sag Harbor and on the East End, as experienced by students from Pierson High School. The students’ work is curated and exhibited in eight separate categories, including “Portraiture,” “Landscape and the Natural World,” “Architecture,” “Still Life,” “Home & Family,” “A Sense of Place,” “People & Activities,” and “Inside Out.” Assembled by artist and Pierson High School art teacher Liz Cataletto, the exhibition includes work by students from her photography and advanced photography classes.
