The Watermill Center is launching a new program of sensory-friendly tours in honor of Autism Awareness Month. The first of the series will be held on Saturday, April 30, with future dates to be announced.

The Watermill Center invites guests to walk through history, exploring the Center’s carefully curated art collection, expansive library, manicured gardens and historic building. Tours of The Watermill Center offer a unique chance to see how the 10-plus acre campus acts as a source of inspiration for year-round artists-in-residence as they push the boundaries of creative practice.

The Center’s sensory-friendly tours increase access to the Center through accommodations made for neurodiverse visitors. Natural lighting is used when possible, ambient sound is kept to a minimum, and materials will be made available prior to guest arrival to give attendees time to review and plan their visit.

The event takes place both indoors and outdoors. All attendees, including children, must be fully vaccinated, and present proof of vaccination during check-in. Those unable to show proof of vaccination will be turned away. For the foreseeable future, unvaccinated individuals are unable to attend. Masks are required for indoor spaces. The Watermill Center is at 39 Watermill Towd Road, Water Mill. For more information visit watermillcenter.org or call 631-726-4628.
