Everything you wanted to know about the “mysterious” California-grown Rhone varietals will be explained by Steve Beckmen of Beckmen Vineyards at a wine dinner at the Plaza Café off Hill Street in Southampton on Friday, May 21, starting at 6 p.m. Mr. Beckmen has been working with these grapes since founding the winery in 1994.
Featured on the menu will be Plaza Café signature canapes with the 2009 Estate Sauvignon Blanc and 2009 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache Rosé; grilled white tuna with watercress purée and medley of spring vegetables served with 2008 Le Bec Blanc; bacon wrapped monkfish stuffed with lobster with an English pea purée, morels, and beurre rouge served with 2008 Cuvée Le Bec; sliced Jurgielewicz Farm duck breast with strawberry-rhubarb compote and foie gras sauce served with 2006 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache; and herb crusted rack of lamb with flageolets and thyme scented lamb jus served with 2008 Estate Syrah.
