Shakespeare at the Manor Presents 'As You Like It' on Shelter Island

authorStaff Writer on Jul 14, 2024

William Shakespeare’s most musical play, “As You Like It,” comes to Sylvester Manor on Shelter Island for a two-night run on July 27 and 28.

In “As You Like It,” Rosalind disguises herself as a male and flees to the Forest of Arden to find her exiled father. Along the way, Rosalind finds true love in the person of her beloved Orlando and meets some very eccentric characters including Jaques who utters the famous “All the Word’s a Stage” speech. Presented by Robin Aren Productions, the cast comprises local and New York City actors and is directed by Bay Street’s Allen O’Reilly.

Shows are Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28, at 6 p.m. both nights. Seating is outdoors on the lawn so bring a blanket or beach chair. Guests are welcome to enjoy their own picnic/BYOB. Bug repellent and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Tickets are $30 (children 10 and under are free) at eventbrite.com. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Sylvester Manor Educational Farm is at 80 North Ferry Road, Shelter Island. In the case of inclement weather, the performance will take place in the auditorium at the Shelter Island School. Seating will be first come, first served.
