Sixteen Shelter Island artists will open their studios on Saturday, August 17, and Sunday, August 18, so visitors can get an inside peek at the creative process.

Now in its 10th year, the “Artists of Shelter Island Open Studio” event, is presented by Artists of Shelter Island (ARTSI), an organization founded by Shelter Island artists who work in different styles and disciplines.

Elizabeth Anne Hartman, the press contact for the event, said that the open studio days give those who are curious about Shelter Island an opportunity to explore the area and see what it has to offer.

The studio tour has remained small over the years, and works represent all different styles, from photography and painting to sculpture and mixed media.

All of the artwork in the studios is for sale and many of the artists will accep commissions. The event runs noon to 5 p.m. both days and is free. More information about the artists, along with the studio map, is available online at artsi.info.
