Sneak preview of Disney film at Bay Street

author on Nov 23, 2009

Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor has two events planned for the holiday weekend specially designed for kids.

Fans of Disney and Nickelodeon will find Bay Street to be a perfect destination on Sunday, November 29, as a special event is planned: For one show only, Reilly Kelly Productions LLC and the Sag Harbor restaurant Blue Sky will present the exclusive Sag Harbor screening of “The Kings of Appletown” at Bay Street at 2:30 p.m.

The Bay Street screening will be something of a sneak preview: “The Kings of Appletown,” directed by Bobby Moresco, is a yet-to-be-released film that stars teenage heartthrobs Dylan and Cole Sprouse (from Disney’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”), and Victoria Justice (from Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101”). “The Kings of Appletown” is a coming-of-age movie with an updated Tom Sawyer-inspired adventure that will be particularly appealing to “Zack and Cody” fans. In addition, the film includes Kate Burton, whom many Sag Harbor residents know as not only a famous actress but also as the daughter of Sybil Christopher, one of the founders of Bay Street and its artistic director.

Doors will open at 2 p.m. on Sunday, and the movie starts at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for children and $10 for adults. Proceeds will benefit Bay Street Theatre.

Also, on Friday, November 27, Bay Street Theatre’s KidStreet series continues with music, dance and fun for the entire family, as Hot Peas ’N Butter—the 2006 and 2008 Parent’s Choice Award-winning band—takes the stage, with two shows, at 1 and 3 p.m.

Hot Peas ’N Butter is a unique children’s musical group that incorporates elements of traditional Latin music, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz, folk, and rock. With the appearance of their hit videos on Nickelodeon and Noggin, Hot Peas ’N Butter has quickly become a household name. As a featured artist on XM Kids and Sirius Satellite Radio, Hot Peas ’N Butter has been climbing the radio charts. The group’s single “Different Spokes for Different Folks” held the number-one spot for several weeks on Sirius Kids and continues to reside in the top 100 songs overall on Sirius. By combining an interactive, invigorating approach to performance with multicultural music, Hot Peas ’N Butter has developed a distinct way of inspiring care and creativity in kids and adults alike.

Tickets for these shows are $12 for children and $15 for adults, and they can be purchased online at baystreet.org, or by calling the box office at (631) 725-9500. The box office is located on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor and is open daily Wednesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

KidStreet is sponsored in part by Suffolk County National Bank, and by Suffolk County, under the auspices of the Office of Cultural Affairs.
