author on Jan 30, 2017

The New York State Council on the Arts has awarded more than $1 million in grants to cultural and arts organizations across Long Island, including nearly $260,000 for organizations on the East End alone.

The grants have been awarded as part of a $41 million statewide funding initiative aimed at supporting the creation of visual, performing, literary and media arts. In addition, programs for arts education and ones designed to aid economic development through the arts will also receive support.

Of the roughly $260,000 destined for organizations on the East End, $15,000 will go to Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, $9,000 to the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Association, $17,860 to the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton, $44,000 to East End Arts and Humanities Council in Riverhead, $15,000 to the Friends of the Cultural Center in Southampton, $8,000 to Guild Hall in East Hampton, $3,700 to Hallockville in Riverhead, $10,000 to the Hamptons International Film Festival, $81,500 to the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, $10,000 to the Suffolk County Historical Society in Riverhead, $10,000 to the Montauk Chamber Music Society, and $35,000 to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.
