Southampton sculptor and painter Eleanora Kupencow’s first solo show in five years will open Friday, April 8, at Anderson Contemporary Gallery in Lower Manhattan.
Co-presented by Anderson Contemporary and Susan Davis Eley, “Eleanora Kupencow: Body Parts” features Ms. Kupencow’s recent paintings and sculptures and two of her Fun Seetz, which is what she calls her whimsical sculptures that are designed to be sat on and climbed. The Fun Seetz that will be on exhibit are “Dash Hound” and “Fat Cat.” Two large sculptures that will be on display are “The Interfacing Couple” and “The Jitterbugs,” which are 11 feet and 10 feet tall, respectively. Their maquettes—scale model rough drafts of the sculptures—will also be in the exhibition.
Ms. Kupencow’s sculpture series “Horsing Around the Arrows of Time” is permanently installed at the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton, and more examples of her work are on view at the LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, the Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor and The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton.
“Eleanor Kupencow: Body Parts” will remain on view through May 1. Anderson Contemporary Gallery is located at 180 Maiden Lane, New York. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or by appointment. For more information, visit andersoncontemporary.com.
